Summer Camp Counselor

The Summer Counselor position facilitates Club SciKidz Summer Day Camps' abilityto execute the different themed STEM camps for young people ages 4-14. Withup to 20 make-and-take projects each week, campers explore the world aroundthem and get a sense of what it takes to achieve a career in the science andtechnology fields that interests them.Programs include experiments and projects in Robotics, Programming, VeterinaryMedicine, Special Effects, Minecraft, Chemistry, Rocket Science, Geology,Paleontology, and many other science and engineering disciplines.This is a full-time, seasonal position during the months of June and July. We do notwork the week of July 4th. Individuals interested in a substitute position are welcometo apply.Counselors: Enthusiastically engage campers by leading them through STEMexperiments and lessons, hands-on projects, games, and activities for age groupsranging from Pre-Kindergarten-Rising 8th Graders (4-14 years). Facilitate Pre andPost camp games and activities with campers. Document all camp issues asneeded including camper behavior and incidents. Complete assignedresponsibilities including set-up, clean-up, and program maintenance. Assist withdaily check-in and check-out. Supervise lunchtime activities. Build and maintain agood working rapport with co-workers, campers, and parents. Work in a teamenvironment, creating a safe and fun experience for children. Attend and activelyparticipate in weekly staff meetings.Schedule/Availability Requirements: Normal Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday8:00 AM - 5 PM Paid Orientation and Training: June 6, 2023 (In-person). There is also an online training component to be completed.Camp: June 10 - August 2nd, 2024 (Depending on location) Full time-temporary.Must be available on ALL dates at the location that you are contracted for.Qualifications: Previous experience teaching or managing children required;either in a formal or informal environment. Excellent oral communication skills arerequired. Must be energetic, creative, responsible, dependable, and have anenthusiasm for science and children. Must pass a background check.Education: Must have at least one year of college experience to qualify for ancounselor position. High School seniors can also be hired as co-counselors.
