Responsible for being able to perform all duties and tasks associated with packaging and shipping sales orders and other items both domestically and internationally.Duties:Use Epicor and attend production meetings to maintain daily shipping schedule.Pick available orders from inventory and package all outgoing product for shipment.Process shipments using courier companys software packages such as UPS Worldship and FedEx Ship Manager.Coordinate and schedule freight pickups for both domestic and international freight companies.Must be, or be willing to obtain, certification to package and ship hazardous materials (primarily paint).Responsible for handling all shipping logistical documentation for both domestic and international shipments including BOLs and AES filings.Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies and reorders via requisition to purchasing, when necessary. Seeks opportunities to reduce packaging inventory as needed.Responsible to ensure freight charges are properly applied, prepay & add, collect, COD, etc.Communicate shipping status with both internal and external customers.Seeks opportunities to reduce shipping costs by:Improving packaging processes and reduce costsSeek consolidation of packaging for standard productsWork with couriers to seek competitive shipment ratesFiles and maintains pertinent shipping documentationCoding freight bills for accounts payable.Other duties may include:Coverage for ReceivingReceive, unpack and examine incoming shipments for damagesVerify counts of incoming products and/or supplies against receiving reports run from EpicorRefuse damaged or unscheduled shipments, if requiredAccurately enter receipts of all product and/or supplies received into the Epicor system.Deliver product to proper department and/or location in a timely manner.Knowledge of ISO procedures and follow as requiredMaintains an organized and clean work areaHours for this position need to cover times when logistics companies are picking up packages, generally up to 5pm daily. On days when early or late pick ups are required, Shipper will work with Logistics Supervisor to determine coverage.General Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent, three years of material control (stockroom attendant, receiving, production control) preferred.Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor to deal with internal and external contacts.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a multitask environment under deadlines. Must work independently and show initiative.Proven ability to meet challenges that lie beyond the current position description and learn to solve problems creatively.Proficiency in a variety of computer software including the use of spreadsheets, databases, graphs and word processing. Knowledge of Epicor or other MRP software preferred.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, kneel, reach, lift (up to 35 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally), sit and stand as well as talk and/or hear. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met be an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The work environment is casual, yet professional. The individual in this position will be exposed to a production/manufacturing and warehouse environments as well as a normal office environment.
