RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESIncluding, but not limited to, the following: Ensure the safety and supervision of a group of children 6 weeks to 2 years of age at all times.Respect the personal rights of children and parentsProvide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students.Provide children with a warm & loving environmentAssist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed material and suppliesEffectively communicate, in a timely manner, with parents/guardians to create and foster a positive relationshipWorks with other teachers on student curriculum, student portfolios and other student requirementsMust be reliable/dependable/flexibleMust be a team playerConsistence attendanceRelentless work ethic and be a high energy individualHumanistic, compassionate, and drivenExcellent written communication skillsInjury PreventionEnsure play, sleep, crib, and changing areas are kept cleanReliable transportationA passion for working with kids & excited by the learning of young childrenMust follow all CA licensing regulations and Oceanside Shining Stars policies CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND EXPECTATIONS:Including, but not limited to, the following: Provide basic needs for childrenHelp children develop positive self-images and experience successEncourage the exploration of childs interestsStrong classroom management skillsGive infants 1:1 time during feedings and as much as possibleRecord and monitor the daily activities of children in your careDocument children progress and goalsUpdates our electronic App dailyChanges diapers, helps with potty breaks and/or potty trainingContribute and schedule Parent/Teacher conferences when neededPlan extra curricular activitiesDevelop curriculum, lesson plan, & develop extra-curricular activitiesClean and sanitize classroom and materials in classroom dailyWash dishes & classroom materials (i.e. paintbrushes, paint cups, etc.)Clean bathrooms and/or other shared areas throughout the schoolMust have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population.Patience and compassion suitable for working with childrenPlan special occasion and parent giftsUse assessment testing on children periodicallyAbility to instruct young children in rules of conduct and learning new tasks Ability to select appropriate teaching method and adapt to childrens learning stylesProficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parentsManage decorations of classroom, including updating classroom boards with childrens artworkWork with children one-on-one as much as possibleWillingness to learn songs & sing with childrenExcellent organization and time management skillsEnsure materials in classroom are age appropriate Reporting accidents, illness, and unusual behavior to supervisor, as well as adding it to electronic appPromotes the importance of social-emotional learning Feed infants solids at age appropriate times with communication with parentsSoothe infants by singing to & cuddling themSupervise infants on the floor as they play with toysEnsure materials in classroom are age appropriateSupervise while theyre sleeping and add notes into electronic app PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT:Including, but not limited to, the following: Take additional classes and attend periodic trainings and monthly meaningsAlways maintain current pediatric first aide and CPR cardMaintain current mandated reporter trainingKnowledge of appropriate learning psychology, styles, & strategies Knowledge of child development & important age milestonesThe drive to continue to learn and grow WORKING CONDITIONS:Including, but not limited to, the following: Ability to thrive in a fast paced, always busy environment High stress tolerance - ability to thrive in a high pressure environmentExtended periods of time sitting on the floor Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
