Our school campus is located on a pastoral 10-acre farm in the tranquil, historical town of Marshall, Virginia, just an hour away from our nations capital. Our classrooms are designed to incorporate both indoor and outdoor spaces and reflect our mission of environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and free play in nature. Mountainside currently serves children from three years to 15 years with our Primary, Elementary, and Adolescent programs.The Montessori Primary Assistant is responsible for supporting the Montessori Primary Guide in the classroom with the goal of creating a nurturing, stimulating environment that supports the growth and development of each child. Our classrooms are designed to incorporate both indoor and outdoor spaces and reflect our mission of environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and free play in nature.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Montessori Primary Guide in planning and delivering Montessori lessons and activities that align with the needs and interests of each child in the classroomSupport the children in their exploration and discovery of the prepared environmentMaintain order and cleanliness in the classroomFoster a culture of respect, kindness, and cooperation among the childrenProvide individual or small-group instruction as neededAssist with preparing materials and setting up the classroomCommunicate regularly with the Montessori Primary Guide about children's progress and any concernsParticipate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on Montessori philosophy and best practicesWork collaboratively with other staff members to support the school's overall mission and goalsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentExperience working with children in a Montessori or similar environment preferredMontessori training or willingness to undergo Montessori trainingExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work collaboratively with other staff membersFirst Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Position detailsPosition Type: Full-time, 8am-4pm, M-FLocation: 4206 Belvoir Road, Marshall, VA 20115Compensation: $21,480 per school year; summer hours available with additional compensationWorking ConditionsThe Montessori Primary Assistant will work in a school environment with children aged 3-6 years old.
