Job DescriptionPosition Title: Master GardenerPosition Reports To: Chelsea EDC Beautification CoordinatorStatus: Hourly Non-ExemptHours: Approximately 25-30 hours per week during business hours primarilyPay: $20-25 per hour depending on experience and educationMaster GardenerThe Chelsea Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) partners with residents, businesses,and community organizations to activate projects which expand economic opportunity andimprove the quality of life in the Chelsea Neighborhood of Atlantic City.This part-time (25 hours per week) position will serve as the CEDCs expert for all things green -trees, plants, flowers, and gardens. The Master Gardener will offer expert advice and guidance,strategic planning, and the execution of daily maintenance, including but not limited to,watering, pruning, shaping, and providing proper nutrients for effective growth.Candidates who apply for this opportunity may also be looking for positions titled: MasterGardener, Botanical Technician, Planting and Greenery Specialist, Botanical Gardens Keeper,Green Space Management Specialist, Garden and Grounds Care Manager, Planting andLandscaping Technician.RESPONSIBILITIES for the Master Gardener:*Planting and propagating various types of plants, flowers, and trees*Soil management and fertilization to ensure optimal plant growth*Preventing and treating pests and diseases*Proper plants, flowers, and trees selection based on the environment for optimal growth*Educating the business & public in Chelsea EDCs programREQUIREMENTS for the Master Gardener:*Must have a Bachelor's Degree in horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, Environmental Science, ora related field, or equivalent years of experience.Page 1 of 2 11/7/2022*Must have experience working in a botanical garden, nursery, landscaping company, oragricultural setting.*Demonstrate knowledge of plant care techniques, soil management, pest and disease control,and landscaping principles.*Bilingual English/Spanish and/or English/Bengali preferred, but not required.*Excellent understanding of and a passion for Atlantic City.*Must be able to have computer skills (including, but not limited to, research, budgeting,presentation, and organizational skills)*Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.This position offers a potential for full-time employment at a future date subject to grant funding.CEDC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
