A Paralegal in our Litigation Department will assist multiple attorneys in all phases of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial, and appellate procedures. S/he will be a mature, self-starter who presents well and has excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong client service orientation. This position is ideally suited for well-organized individuals with superior attention to detail, exceptional multi-tasking skills to balance the workload and ensure timely completion of work, and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision in a fast-paced environment.Essential functions include:Draft initial forms of subpoenas, complains, motions, answers, discovery requests and responses, and other pleadings;Monitor case filings and provide detailed assessments to attorneys;Conduct background research on parties and witnesses via public records searches, social media, etc., and report on same;Collect information from clients, opposing parties, and third parties and prepare binders with indices of key documents;Review, evaluate, and summarize discovery documents;E-file court documents and compile filings with the court in hard copy where required;Manage document production processes of both hard copy and electronic document indices;Serve as liaison with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, constables, and other third parties;Research rules of procedure for relevant court venues; provide updates to department members.Required Education, Competencies & Experience include:Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate;Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office;3-5 years of litigation experience as a paralegal;Familiarity with e-filing proceduresSend your resume and cover letter to Angela Paolino, Firm Administrator, at [email protected].
