Role (Overview of the Position):The Family Ministry Director role is the primary leader of the Childrens Ministry for the church and community. This role will focus on general leadership, recruitment, development, implementation, and operation of ministries for children aged birth to sixth grade as well as their families. This role will work closely with the Youth Director, Young Adult ministry, and Senior ministry to create a unified multi-generational ministry. They will provide oversight as needed to tie together, elevate, and grow all of these ministries. The Family Ministry Director is responsible for helping us to impact the children and families in our church and community in a way that enables them to fulfill Stoney Churchs overall mission to Love God, Love People, Make Disciples, and Change Our World.Responsibilities:1. Family Ministry Oversight Responsibility Lead and provide oversight to leaders of various ministries; specifically, Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, and Adult Ministries Provide direction and assistance in planning events that involve multiple ministries Encourage and equip parents to fulfill their responsibility as the primary spiritual leader of their children by providing coaching, resources, and tools Reach out to our community to draw children in from Upwards Basketball, East Village, and outside our church walls Set up of policies and procedures for ministry programs that are consistent in each ministry and with Stoney Churchs policies and overall mission Coordinate with various ministries when scheduling calendar events to remain cohesive and unified2. Leadership of the Childrens Ministry Development & Implementation Spiritual Leader of Childrens Ministry; lead by example in prayer life, study of the Word, time spent with God, and personal integrity Serve as an advocate, role model, and spiritual mentor to the children of Stoney Church Build and maintain Sunday morning and midweek worship experiences that are biblically strong in foundation, and impact and attract children to fully engage in the programs Coordinate, develop, and be responsible for the entire Childrens Ministry to include but not be limited to, Discipleship Program, mid-week program, Sunday morning services, Vacation Bible School, and camps as appropriate. Work directly with Upwards Basketball leadership to partner in loving on the children and families and bridging the gap between our community and Stoney Church Oversee and direct in the planning and spending of all Childrens Ministry funds Create a pleasant, organized, and clean space for both public areas and work areas for all the Childrens Ministry staff and volunteers Ensure our Childrens areas are secure and safe for all guests and volunteers3. Leadership to the Childrens Ministry Volunteers & Recruitment Empower, encourage, and lead Childrens Ministry leaders for their ministries by facilitating regularly scheduled Childrens Leader Purpose Group Ensure we have a clear policy in place for all volunteers and that all volunteers are background checked before being allowed to serve Meet with current volunteers initially to discuss their strengths and weaknesses and their vision for their role Meet with current volunteers on a regular basis to provide ongoing updates to policies and procedures, scheduling, and continuous education for improving the Childrens Ministry program Recruit additional volunteers and evaluate their potential for service in the Childrens Ministry program4. Public Face of the Childrens Ministry during Services Present during Sunday Childrens Ministry services at both check-in and check-out Provide a welcoming presence to new and return families Explain policies and answer questions as needed to alleviate concerns and provide clarity in all aspects of Childrens Ministry for our Parents and Guardians Organize a guided tour to new families and introduce them to the teachers that their children will be interacting with during the programming Follow-up with new guests to let them know how their children did and make sure they get connected within our systems so we can keep in contact and communicate with them well Assist in developing the type and frequency of communications to parents and ensure this is accomplished consistentlyRequirements (Expected Proficiencies): Covenant Member of Stoney Church, Spirit-filled lover of God and People Leadership Skills Required: Experience in Childrens Program Leadership 3-5 years Education Preferred: Prefer 2 years of higher education in either Childrens or Pastoral programs Recruiting Ability: Ability to use your enthusiasm to draw others into service for God Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently; specifically, to schedule teams and volunteers on a regular basis Curriculum Proficiency: Ability to review, update, and write classroom curriculum Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communications ability Technical Proficiency: Competent in MS Office and Planning Center Church Management System Professionalism: Maintain respect and clarity in all communications Empathy: Deep understanding and concern for all people who come in contact with Stoney for any reason
