As our first dedicated accounting hire, the Controller will elevate our accounting practices to best-in-class and play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health of SmarterDx. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, and financial compliance. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of standing up accounting systems (including ERP migrations), leading companies through financial audits, and a desire to manage a small team in the future. Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Monitor variances and trends, and proactively identify areas for improvement or risk mitigation.
Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in accordance with GAAP standards.
Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and financial reporting standards. Lead the company through its first financial audit.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Implement policies and procedures to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in financial operations.
Technical Accounting: Experience with drafting technical accounting memos for revenue recognition, COGS, R&D capitalization, stock based compensation, etc.
Cash Management: Manage cash flow projections and optimize cash resources to support operational needs and strategic initiatives. Monitor banking activities and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
ERP Migration: Lead the implementation of an upgraded ERP system.
Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives, such as fundraising, M&A, and business expansion.

Your qualifications

5+ years of industry or operational experience, ideally at a high growth startup. Public accounting experience is a plus.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including deep understanding of ASC606. Experience with SaaS required. Experience with revenue cycle management and contingency based pricing preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial controls and processes.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

Compensation

$150K to $180K base salary + equity + benefits
