Note: The dates of this job are June 10th to August 9th, 2024, The camp is held at the pier in San Clemente and is for ages 6 and up!Summary:Are you passionate about the ocean, a good leader and ready to help us create an unforgettable wave riding experience at the beach for kids? Look no further! We're seeking two enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Boogie Camp Directors.As the Camp Director, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating a seamless and enriching experience for campers and instructors. Your leadership will shape the camp's culture, ensuring safety, fostering growth, and creating cherished memories for all participants.You'll have the opportunity to engage with campers aged 6 - 15 years of age in a dynamic and fun environment, along with showing your leadership skills to motivate and empower the instructors. Your responsibilities will include organizing instructors to guide campers as they delve into the art of riding waves using bodyboards, skimboards, tandem boards, or even bodysurfing.Experience as a seasoned surfer or skilled bodyboarder isn't required. Instead, we seek individuals with exceptional communication skills, strong organizational abilities, a genuine passion for working with children, and the ability to foster positive learning environments. Comfort in the ocean is essential, as there may be instances where you'll need to assist children in the water.This is more than just a jobit's a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of kids, helping them discover the love of the ocean and build lasting memories. Join us in creating a summer filled with laughter, learning, and endless possibilities for these youngsters!Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee all aspects of camp operations, including programming, staff management, and safety protocols.Managing instructors each day for AM and PM sessions through ConnectTeam App.Coordination of the weekly programs and instructors making sure the daily curriculum is followed.Transporting equipment to and from the beach each day and arranging help for this with daily instructors upon arrival to the pier parking lot.Managing storage of equipment in the van at the end of each day with help of instructors.Provide active supervision to instructors and campers on land and in the water ensuring a safe environment for all.Establish and maintain effective communication channels with campers, parents, instructors and boss Vicki.Serve as a role model and mentor to staff and inspiring themMaintain, manage, update and account for the equipment each day and replenish items each week if needed.Calculate number and sizes of camper rashguards needed each week. Reviewing numbers every Wednesday for the following week.Handle customer complaintsHandle injury incidents and paperwork logRespond to emergencies and alert Lifeguards of any dangerous situations a camper or instructor might get inCPR and First Aid certification (will provide)Live scan digital fingerprint and background check will be required (will need to submit to DOJ before start date)Post social media pictures each daySubmit a report each day to Vicki Reale (text or email)Check campers in and out each session and insure they are all accounted forMake sure beach is all clear of trash and handle lost and foundAddress camper behavioral issuesPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by you to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Required to possibly swim, stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, dig, and climb.Might need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Exposed to possibly harsh beach, surf & weather conditions.Outdoors and exposed to the elements: windy, hot, sandy, wet, dirty.Director Schedule:Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 12:30pm (4.15 hours)This job will require the AM Director to arrive at 8:00am to ebodyboarding.com and drive the loaded van to the bottom parking lot above the pier with all the equipment. This will allow enough time to unload and transport bodyboards, swimfins and other items to the beach with assistance of allocated instructors. Then you will need to set up tent/s, table/s, banners, etc. Everything will need to be ready for campers arrival at 9am to sign them in. The AM Director can expect to leave at 12:30pm or when the last camper leaves and the PM instructor arrives.Ideally it would be great for the Camp Directors to work together to get the equipment to and from the beach each day.Monday to Friday, 12:30pm - 4:30pm (4 hours)This job will require the PM Director to arrive at 12:30pm to take over from the AM Director. You will need a ride to the beach as you will be required to drive the van back to eBodyboarding at the end of the day. So you will also need a ride home from ebodyboarding around 4:30pm.You will need to be ready to reorganize the equipment from the AM session upon arrival to the beach at 12:30 and set up everything for the 1pm campers to arrive. The PM Director can expect to leave the beach just after 4pm, or when the last camper leaves. They will need to transport all equipment, with assistance from instructors, back to the lower parking lot to load it all in the vehicle and drive it back to ebodyboarding.Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal, ContractSalary: $22.00 - $23.00 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekSchedule:4 hour shift8 hour shiftMonday to FridayWeekdaysWork setting:Outdoor workPeople with a criminal record are encouraged to applyLocation:San Clemente, CA 92673 (Required)
