BHO Kids Paddle Camp CounselorWe are Black Hall Outfitters, CTs premier paddle-sport destination, located on the pristine,protected waters of the Great Island National Estuary in Old Lyme, CT. We are currentlylooking for counselors for our 2023 BHO Kids Paddle Camp (June August 2023).Our BHO Kids Paddle Camp introduces kids to kayaking and paddle boarding with an emphasison fun, learning and safety. We provide the kids a week of fun on water activities that they willnever forget exploring the natural wonders, meeting new friends and learning from our highlytrained staff on our calm, protected waterways. The kids will be out on the water, being active,fit and disconnecting from their devices to experience active, real life adventures.Requirements / Skills: Physically Fito Ability to assist with getting equipment into and out of the water for the kids as well ascleaning at the end of the week. Need to be able to assist with lifting up to 50 lbso Strong swimmer our counselors will be physically on the water with the kids camp on a dailybasiso Must be physically able to assist campers in an emergency situation and need to possessstrength and endurance for all on water activitieso Some physical requirements of a camp counselor include; bending, stooping and stretching Require good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate waterfront equipmentand waterfront activities, as well as normal range of hearing and eyesight Ability to operate and function with daily exposure to sun, heat and varying water conditionsResponsibilities Assist in the direction, supervision and organization of campers, daily plan and activitiesthroughout the week in order to meet the intended program experience Assure campers are properly supervised at all times Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication,respect for safety, involvement and having FUN! Work as a member of the BHO team of counselors who provide guidance and support of allcampers Be aware of and implement safety guidelines Assist in other program areas such as nature exploration, eco-awareness, safety and on andoff water activities Conduct a regular check of equipment for safety, cleanliness and repair Submit orders for supplies and equipment needs to BHO management Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures Set good examples for all campers and others in regard to general camp procedures andpracticesCompensation $18-$20 per hour dependent on experiencePlease send resume and/or all correspondence to [email protected] required upon request
