The Mental Bar
The Mental Bar, a new coffee shop in the San Diego Black Arts and Culture District of Encanto, is seeking a Part-time Barista. The Barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention to each customer. He or she is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and teas. The Barista will fulfill any other duties the General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Shift Supervisor assigns and will represent The Mental Bar in a professional manner. Must be 21 years of age or older.Must be available to work Wednesday - SundayYou should have the ability to adapt quickly, care deeply about customer service and have a love for coffee.Barista Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelops enthusiastically satisfied customers all of the time.In-store coffee and accessory sales.Sales order tracking and reporting.Ability to adapt quickly.Prepare hot and cold drinks in accordance to all customer needs.Maintain a clean working area.Follow all state health and safety guidelines as given by training.Apply incredible customer service.Greeting customers and helping them with their coffee needs.Helping customers with their coffee and tea equipment needs.Unpacking, packing and storing pastry and food for sale.Ability to communicate and reiterate drinks and drink orders.Serves beverages to customers in a professional and thoughtful way.Able to learn how to make various espresso drinks and repeat the ingredients.Learns how to prepare specialty coffee drinks such as frozen and blended coffee drinks.Cleans the coffee shop and cafe when times are slow.Handles the cash register, cash till, and cash bank.Handles all customer orders in a professional manner, conducting themselves as a professional barista.Places baked goods out every morning and prepares them for storage every night.Cleans espresso machines every evening in advance of business open the following day.Ensures espresso is pulling properly during every food and beverage order.Knowledgeable of general food safety and food sanitary requirements.Educates customers on which coffee blend might suit their needs as part of their customer satisfaction skills.Comfortable learning each new espresso drink and coffee drink that comes to market.Comfortable performing regular cleaning on the espresso machine as an experienced barista.Cleans all brewing equipment and coffee grinding equipment.Cleans the coffee bar patrons use to pour milk and other tools.Communicates with the store manager and shift supervisor on a regular basis.Barista SkillsInterpersonal skillsCustomer service skillsTime management skillsOrganizational skillsLeadership skillsCollaborative skillsTeamwork skillsListening skillsCommunication skillsLatte artFood serviceJob Type: Part-timeSalary: $16.85 per hourShift:4-6 hour shiftDay shiftWeekly day range:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityWork Location: One locationJob Types: Full-time, Part-timeSalary: $16.85 per hourRestaurant type: Coffee shop Shift: 4 hour shiftDay shift Weekly day range: Every weekendMonday to Friday Experience: Guest services: 1 year (Required)Barista experience: 1 year (Required) Work Location: In person
