The High School Math Teacher (contractor) is a highly qualified, passionate educator responsible for delivering Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry content in a classroom setting. Our student to teacher ratio is 14:1. The High School Math Teacher will provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs. The High School Math Teacher monitors student progress. They actively work closely with students to meet JMPS objectives that are above the state standards.THIS IS AN AT-WILL ROLEThis is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a workday, typically 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or as defined by the school.Essential Functions:InstructionalTakes ownership for students' academic progress, communicating high expectations, and showing active interest in students' achievement;Prepares students for high stakes standardized tests;Asynchronously supports objectives, including composing/sending emails, planning course objectives, preparing learning plans, and using data to determine student needs;Collaborates with other math teachers regarding instruction, resources, interventions and data-driven decision making;Makes self-open and available to be coached on a regular basis with administrators and mentor teachers;Submits grades and required student work ensuring student academic honesty and integrity; Maintains grade book; makes placement and promotion decisions by generating formal and informal reports regarding student progress, alerts administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.Relationship BuildingEstablishes and maintains positive rapport with students, families and staff and regularly communicates with parents;Supports students and learning;Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support;Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing;Responds to students, parents, and colleagues in a timely manner.Other Essential FunctionsGets involved in community activities (coaching, clubs, events, etc.)Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.Minimum Required Qualifications:Teaching experience ANDLesson planning and curriculum mappingAbility to clear required background check(s)OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinkingKnowledge of state content standards and ability to align those with the K12 curriculumAbility to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomesAbility to problem solve independently and have a high level of organizationAbility to clear required background checkWork Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: From $43,000.00 per yearEmployer paid Benefits:Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offProfessional development assistanceVision insurance
