The Geneva Lake Sailing School is looking for Summer Camp Counselors and Instructors who will be responsible for organizing lessons for our youth sailors and will be expected to act as role models and mentors for our campers. He or She will be actively involved in developing and adhering to summer lesson plans for GLSS programs while maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.Summer Camp Counselors and Instructors will run morning and afternoon practices, promote self-reliance, sportsmanship, teamwork and environmental awareness. They will ensure students safety and success while adhering to the Code of Conduct both on and off the water with the objective to instill a long-term love of sailing in our students. Counselors and Instructors will report to the Summer Camp Administrator and the GLSS Executive Director.Responsibilities include:Preparing daily practice plans based on the curriculum and weather conditionsRunning lessons including rigging, morning briefings, water drills, and debriefs, including video analysisCreating weekly progress reports for each sailor as a means of monitoring the effectiveness of the practicesEncouraging regatta participation and traveling to the event with the teamCommunicating with youth sailors parents and/or legal guardians to ensure proper information flowEnsuring a safe, organized, and educational learning experience for all participantsUp-keeping of boats, equipment, and facilitiesOther responsibilities considered necessary to run effective practice session
